There was a minor spike in COVID-19 cases yesterday (March 9th) in Manitowoc County.
According to the report from the Health Department, 10 more people tested positive and another death has been linked to the virus. This brings those totals up to 7,270 confirmed cases and 65 deaths.
On a good note, five fewer people are seeking treatment in local hospitals, leaving only 30 people occupying ICU beds for that purpose.
On the vaccination front, 208 more shots were administered yesterday, with 88 of those being first-time patients. This brings the vaccination totals up to 23,757 total shots administered, with 15,012 people at least receiving a single dose.
This also means that roughly 19% of the county has started its vaccination regimen. This is slightly above the vaccination rate in the state, which is at 18.7%, or just over 1 million doses.
The numbers look very similar in Sheboygan County as well.
The Division of Public Health reported another death linked to the virus, raising that total to 133. This individual was reportedly over the age of 80.
Also, 9 new cases and 9 recoveries were reported, raising those totals to 12,996 confirmed cases, and 12,732 recoveries, and leaving 131 cases active.
