After only reporting 21 new cases of COVID-19 over the first eight days of March, the Manitowoc County Health Department has seen that total nearly double over the past two days.
Seven more cases were confirmed yesterday (March 10th), just a day after reported 10 new cases. Also in those two days, two more deaths were linked to the virus, with the second coming in yesterday.
This brings the pandemic totals up to 7,277 confirmed cases, and 66 deaths.
Also, the number of people hospitalized for COVID in the Northeast Region of Hospitals jumped 6 points to 36.
On the vaccination front, things are looking much better. 966 more shots were administered throughout the County yesterday, with a whopping 743 of those being new patients. This means that 24,723 shots have been administered, with 15,755 people at least receiving a single dose.
Manitowoc County continues to be a bit ahead of the state average as far as the percentage of people being vaccinated goes. 19.9% of the county has gotten at least one dose, compared to 19.1% of the entire state.
Meanwhile, in Sheboygan County, the Division of Public Health’s numbers look very similar to Manitowoc County’s.
10 new cases were confirmed, while 8 people have been added to the recovered column. This brings their totals up to 13,006 cases confirmed, 12,740 recoveries, and 133 cases remain active.
They did not report any new deaths, leaving that total at 133.
