There was another minor spike in COVID-19 cases yesterday (March 16th) in Manitowoc County.
Nine new cases were confirmed in the Health Department report, bringing that total up to an even 7,300.
There was a bit of good news, however, as one fewer person is being treated in an area hospital for the virus, bringing that total down to 24. Also, no new deaths were reported, leaving that total at 66 for the seventh day in a row.
On the vaccination front, the numbers weren’t massive, but they did go up.
204 more shots were administered yesterday throughout Manitowoc County, with 126 going into first-time patients. This brings the total number of vaccinations administered up to 28,319, with 17,733 people at least receiving one dose.
22.5% of county residents have at least gotten one shot, compared to 21.9% of Wisconsinites. The state will also likely surpass their 2 millionth dose administered today.
In Sheboygan County, they continue to be amid a bit of a COVID resurgence.
30 new cases were added by the Division of Public Health yesterday, while 11 people were moved to the recovered column. This brings their pandemic totals up to 13,100 cases confirmed, 12,810 recoveries, and 158 cases remain active.
Over the past week their active case count has risen by 27, but their death toll has remained stagnant at 132 (once you take into consideration that one case was removed from the county records).
