One more person has died in Manitowoc County due to complications brought on by COVID-19.
The Health Department no longer reports on the age or location of the deaths, so we do not have any of that information. This death raises the death toll to 67.
In some good news, the number of COVID cases in the county actually went down by one yesterday (March 17th). This has happened before, specifically in the death toll, because further investigations revealed that the individual was tested in Manitowoc but did not reside in the county. The total number of confirmed cases is not down to 7,299.
On the vaccination front, Manitowoc County is coming incredibly close to surpassing the 30,000-shot threshold.
After 756 more shots were administered yesterday, the total number has risen to 29,075. Of the shots given yesterday, 496 went into first-time patients, meaning 18,229 people have received at least one dose of one of the vaccines.
These updated numbers also mean that 23.1% of county residents have received at least one shot, while roughly 70% of adults over 65 have been vaccinated.
Meanwhile, in Sheboygan County, they also reported one more death.
According to the Division of Public Health, this individual was in the 40-49-year-old age group and brings the death toll up to 133.
