Allen C. Karbon, age 90, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 6, 1930 in Four Corners, Wisconsin, son of the late Adolph and Verna (Knuell) Karbon. Allen attended area schools, including Woodrow Wilson Middle School and Lincoln High School, graduating with the class of 1948. He was drafted in 1951 and served in the United States Air Force until being honorably discharged in 1954. On September 15, 1951 Allen married Dolores Volante in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on July 31, 2007. Allen started his working career at Mirro Aluminum in 1955, eventually leaving to work at Hydra-Tool of Manitowoc. He then worked for Point Beach Nuclear Plant from its opening on December 4, 1970 until his retirement on March 31, 1993. Allen loved hunting, fishing, and watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Bears as well as the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed playing chess, sheepshead, poker, and pool.
Survivors include one son: David Karbon & his fiancée Jana Marquette, Shawano; one daughter: Loretta Karbon, Manitowoc; two grandchildren: Amanda Rose (A.J.) Colon, Springfield, Massachusetts, and Eleanor (Vinnie) Demyan, Palmer, Massachusetts; three great-grandchildren: Michael, Adam, and William; and numerous nieces and nephews: Lynn (Dale), Scott, Gary, Holly, Suzie, Gordie, Vernali, Jeni, and Jamie. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Adolph and Verna Karbon; his wife: Dolores Karbon; one grandson: David Karbon, Jr.; his siblings: Gordon, Geraldine, Germaine, and Eunice; one niece: Gail; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Charles and Rose (Jerabek) Volante; as well as other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 423 South Main Street, Mishicot. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Jeffrey Briones. Allen will be laid to rest at Knollwood Mausoleum.
The family will greet relative and friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Allen’s name to benefit Alzheimer’s Disease research.
