A boater who was tossed into the chilly waters of Lake Michigan Tuesday morning estimates he was in the water for about five-to-10 minutes before he was rescued. Nearby fishermen pulled him out. The man – whose name wasn’t released – had fallen out of his boat into the 48-degree water. He was transferred to the South Milwaukee Fire Department rescue boat, then evaluated by Emergency Medical Services personnel. A member of the U-S Coast Guard had to jump into the man’s empty, circling boat to take control of it.
