The Kenosha police officer who shot Jacob Blake last August has returned to active duty.
Officer Rusten Sheskey had been on administrative leave since the incident that left Blake paralyzed and sparked riots and looting in the southeastern Wisconsin city.
Kenosha Police Chief Daniel Miskinis says restoring Sheskey’s status was the only lawful and appropriate decision – public sentiment notwithstanding.
At the time, Sheskey said he feared Blake would stab him with the knife he was carrying as he tried to stop Blake from leaving the scene.
Officers had been told he was trying to steal a vehicle.
