A four-star combo guard who committed to play for coach Shaka Smart at Texas will follow him to Marquette.
Emarion Ellis of Davenport, Iowa is rated the second-best player in that state. Ellis is six-foot-five and 175 pounds and is ranked the 31st-best shooting guard in the country.
Scouts say he has “tremendous upside,” with great length for a point guard.
He needs to add mass and strength.
He’s not known as a big-time shooter but is said to be developing as a playmaker.
Another player who committed to Smart while he was at Texas could announce his plans to follow the coach to Marquette later today (April 14thy).
David Joplin is a six-foot-seven power forward at Brookfield Center High School in suburban Milwaukee.
