Corbin Burnes threw six shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out 10 as the Brewers shutout the Chicago Cubs Wednesday afternoon 7-0.
The hard-throwing right-hander picked up his first victory on a day he finally got some offensive support from his teammates. Burnes also helped his own cause by knocking in two runs with a bases-loaded single.
Travis Shaw’s first-inning home run gave Burnes all the run support he really needed. He connected off Jake Arrieta who took the loss for Chicago.
Before the game, the Brewers put Lorenzo Cain on the 10-day injured list and called up outfielder Tyrone Taylor.
Milwaukee takes today (April 15th) off, then welcomes the Pittsburgh Pirates to American Family Field for a three-game series.
