The Wisconsin State Patrol reports at least four dozen vehicles were involved in a crash on Interstate 41 Wednesday.
One death has been confirmed and at least six people were injured. The severity of those injuries isn’t known.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says there were at least three chain-reaction crashes within a 20-mile stretch of the interstate.
Two Flight for Life helicopters and units from several fire departments responded to locations in the Town of Polk and the Town of Wayne.
The road was closed for hours and drivers were detoured.
Bursts of snow had been falling across southeast Wisconsin all day, causing whiteout conditions for drivers.
