N-F-L team owners have approved a series of new rules for the 2021 season.
One of the changes will expand the influence of replay officials in response to demands from coaches that game-day officials have more oversight.
A one-year experiment making it easier to recover onside kicks was approved. Only three of 67 were recovered last season, the lowest number in 20 years.
There will be no overtime for preseason games.
There are new rules concerning what players can wear single-digit uniform numbers. There is one catch – if a linebacker decides he wants to wear number “2,” he’s going to have to buy out the inventory of his previous jersey from distributors connected to the N-F-L.
