U-W-Eau Claire heptathlete Megan Wallace set a new Division Three national record during a track-and-field meet in La Crosse last weekend.
With 5,471 points, Wallace surpassed a mark that was nearly three decades old by four points.
Wallace said she knew she was putting on a good performance because she kept beating her own personal records. She just didn’t know how good until all seven events were finished.
Her coach says the Blugold senior comes to the track early and is always one of the last competitors in the weight room. He says Wallace has a good chance to win again next month in the WIAC championship meet.
