Leaders at the two largest schools in the University of Wisconsin System say they have questions about President Biden’s plan to forgive student debt.
UW-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank and UW-Milwaukee Chancellor Mark Mone are withholding their support.
Mone welcomes the idea but wants to see whether the funding to pay for the plan comes from a viable source.
Blank points out that 57-percent of students at the Madison campus graduated last year with no debt.
She defends the idea of borrowing money to pay for higher education.
