Loved ones say 10-year-old Justin Williams was trying to save a family pet when he died in a Milwaukee house fire last Friday.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office reports a burning candle sitting on an ottoman in the living room somehow started the fire.
It’s possible one of the three dogs in the home knocked it over.
The victim was sleeping in the basement when the house filled up with smoke.
He came to the back storm door, but a key was required to open the deadbolt and the key wasn’t in the interior lock.
First responders found the boy next to Ace, his dog.
