Roger L. Grall, 83, of Manitowoc, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at River’s Bend Health Services, Manitowoc, under the care of Heartland Hospice.
He was born on October 29, 1937 in Manitowoc to the late Richard and Hildegarde (Vogel) Grall. While growing up in the area he attended St. Michael’s Catholic School and graduated from Valders High School in the class of 1955. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Germany. He married the former Janice Fogeltanz on June 11, 1960 and she preceded him in death on November 26, 2020. Roger was employed at Imperial Eastman for 43 years until his retirement.
Roger was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and also of the Manitowoc Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, golfing, cribbage, and watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his four daughters, Gerri (Larry) Aumann of Manitowoc, Kelly Grall of Pewaukee, Marla (Steve) Johnson of Appleton, and Alison (Joe) Ban of Madison; three granddaughters, Sydney, Sheridan, and Shea Johnson; grandson, Jackson Ban; sister, Sharon Tollefson of Manitowoc; two brothers, Wayne Grall of Cedarburg and Dick Grall of Appleton; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Hildegarde Grall; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Anna Fogeltanz; brother-in-law, Gene Tollefson; sister-in-law, Barb Grall; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leo and Marge Fogeltanz, and niece, Shelby Tollefson.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 North Water Street, Manitowoc, celebrated by Rev. Ben Johnson of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Following the memorial service, a luncheon for family and friends will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home. Entombment of the urn will take place at a later date in Calvary Mausoleum. Family and friends may call beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
