A man who says he was wrongfully convicted in a homicide case is suing the city of Milwaukee for $12-million.
The Common Council has approved hiring an outside law firm to defend the city against the lawsuit.
Ladrarius Marshall served 12 years in prison for a crime his lawyer says he didn’t commit.
Marshall was 16 years old when he confessed to being part of a 2008 homicide.
A federal judge tossed his confession out last year, saying police violated his civil rights.
Marshall was set free.
No one else has ever been charged for the crime.
