A Milwaukee County judge has ruled police body camera video can be released in the death of Joel Acevedo.
He died eight days after a fight at the home of off-duty Milwaukee police officer Michael Mattioli last year.
Prosecutors say the former officer put Acevedo in a chokehold, causing his death.
Mattioli faces a charge of first-degree reckless homicide but is currently free on bail. He resigned as an officer after the department suspended him.
Prosecutors didn’t want to release the video or the 9-1-1 calls to avoid tainting a jury pool.
The Acevedo family asked the court to release the video.
Mattioli returns to court on June 4th.
