
While the numbers are much lower than they were in the early days of the vaccine, more people are now starting to get their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in Manitowoc County.
According to the pandemic update from the Health Department on Friday (May 7th), 593 more shots were administered, with 196 of those going into the arms of first-time patients. That number rose slightly throughout the week, as only 79 new patients got shots last Monday.
That being said, the number of new cases was also a bit higher, with 13 new confirmed cases. The pandemic total rose to 7,542, while the death toll and the number of people seeking treatment in area hospitals remained unchanged at 69 and 27 respectively.
Meanwhile, in Sheboygan County, the Division of Public Health reported 16 new cases on Friday, along with 13 recoveries. This brings their pandemic totals up to 13,722 confirmed cases, 13,455 recoveries, and leaves 125 cases active.
Their death toll also remained unchanged at 142.
