High School athletes all over the state were affected by the COVID pandemic, as many conferences decided to postpone their sports schedules until this spring. That change didn’t bother athletes at Lincoln High School, as many of the teams and individuals were able to boast successful seasons.
Manitowoc Public School District Superintendent Mark Holzman was recently on the WCUB Breakfast Club, where he touted all the success those athletes had.
“Our girl’s volleyball team went to the state finals and finished second,” he said. “Our Cross-Country team just finished up this last Saturday in Whitewater, and had a 5th place state finish with a top ten runner.”
And now the traditional spring sports, which includes baseball, softball, tennis, golf, and track & field, have kicked off their seasons, and many are showing promise.
“We’re doing lots of things, and our teams are off to a great start,” Holzman told said.
The Lincoln Boys Baseball team has a busy weekend ahead of them, as they are scheduled to play against De Pere this afternoon (May 14th) at Municipal Field, and then will host a doubleheader tomorrow against Sheboygan South.
The softball team is also scheduled to take on the Red Birds this afternoon, but that game will be played at Citizen Park in De Pere.
The Boys Golf team meanwhile will be in Kaukauna for a 10 team meet at the Fox Valley Golf Club.
