Waukesha West High School standout Jarred Kelenic made his Major League Baseball debut for the Seattle Mariners Thursday night.
Kelenic went 0-4 with a strikeout as the Mariners were beaten by Cleveland 4-2. Seattle managed just two hits.
Kelenic is the fourth-ranked prospect in all of baseball. He was picked sixth overall in the 2018 Free Agent Draft by the New York Mets, then traded to Seattle with four other players for Robinson Cano, Edwin Diaz and $20-million.
Another rookie standout – pitcher Logan Gilbert – took the loss for Seattle in his first big league start.
Kelenic is expected to be in the lineup tonight (May 14th) when the Mariners and Indians meet again.
