Two Rivers police say a young adult male died of a gunshot wound overnight and persons of interest in the crime are in custody.
Two Rivers Police Chief Brian Kohlmeier spoke with Seehafer News and said “Last night, just before midnight, our dispatch received a call of a disturbance at 1809 28th Street here in Two Rivers. The information from the caller was that there was some sort of weapon involved and that one person may have been shot. Upon the officer’s arrival, they did locate one adult male that had an apparent gunshot wound. They attempted lifesaving efforts, but unfortunately, they were not successful.”
Officers with the Manitowoc Police Department were also called into action, as the investigation revealed that some suspects were in the city just south of Two Rivers.
“I know that there is some information about the SWAT team being utilized in Manitowoc. That is correct,” Kohlmeier confirmed. “They were assisting our agency in locating some persons of interest.”
Those individuals were taken into custody, however, no names of anyone involved are being released at this time.
Chief Kohlmeier also noted that the public is not believed to be in any danger at this time.
The 1800 block of 28th Street will be closed off to traffic for the majority of the day as the investigation continues.
The Two Rivers Police Department is in charge of the scene but is being aided by the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, Manitowoc County SWAT Team, Wisconsin Department of Justice, and the State Patrol.
