The S.S. Badger Lake Michigan Car Ferry makes its maiden voyage for the 2021 sailing season Thursday. It’s expected to arrive from Ludington Michigan and dock on South Lakeview Drive around noon.
A brief ceremony will include remarks from Mayor Justin Nickels and Interlake Maritime Services -the new owners of the Badger. Students from Lincoln, Lutheran, and Roncalli High School band programs will also be on-site to welcome the S.S. Badger and its passengers by playing “A Jubilant March” composed for the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of Manitowoc.
In celebration of the initial sail of the season, Interlake Maritime Services has arranged a fireworks show to begin at 8:30 p.m. on the Manitowoc Lakefront. The public is invited to attend all festivities.
