A Wisconsin Rapids man has been bound over for trial in the case of kidnapping and rape that happened outside Appleton’s Fox River Mall 21 years ago.
51-year-old John Carter was arrested last month after he was reportedly connected to the crime through D-N-A evidence collected in another case.
Investigators say he watched a 16-year-old girl in the mall, waited for her to leave after her work shift ended at the Younkers store, then abducted her in the parking lot.
She says he showed her a gun, got in her car and drove it to a nearby spot, and sexually assaulted her.
He is scheduled to enter a plea next month.
