Last week, the State Assembly passed Ethan’s Law, which was named in honor of 7-year-old Ethan Hauschultz of Newton.
Ethan died in 2018 after he was punished by his Great Uncle Timothy Hauschultz and his Cousin Damian Hauschultz.
Ethan’s Law makes it so anyone who has been found guilty of a crime against children cannot care for a foster child. Timothy had a child abuse charge on his record, but since he pled down the charge, he was able to care for Ethan.
We recently spoke with Assemblyman Paul Tittl of Manitowoc, one of the major supporters of the bill, who said that this bill is very important because “We have to protect the kids.”
He also said he expects it to go to the Governor’s desk and he expects Tony Evers to sign it.
