Investigators with the state’s Sexual Assault Kit Initiative have used D-N-A to connect a Racine man to two cold-case rapes.
46-year-old Matthew P. Crockett is charged with the sexual assault of a 20-year-old woman in November 2014 and a 40-year-old woman in 2015. He also faces two counts of false imprisonment.
Authorities say both attacks took place in Kenosha.
Investigators were moving in on Crockett last month when they went through his garbage and collected several cups, bottles, a straw, and a spoon.
The D-N-A they found matched that collected from the two unsolved rape cases and he was taken into custody.
The victims picked Crockett out of a photo array of possible suspects.
