With warmer weather moving into the lakeshore area, there can be concerns dealing with open windows and noise complaints.
Manitowoc Police Chief Nick Reimer tells Seehafer News about typical issues this time of year. “Just kind of a reminder to be as good a neighbor as you can possibly be,” he asked of citizens. “Understand those windows are going to be open, try to keep that noise level down, and be cognizant of how late it is.”
Also, with nicer weather, bonfires are going to be commonplace. “We want to remind people of the regulation of bonfires,” Chief Riemer told us. “ They have to be at most 3-feet in diameter and the flames can’t be any higher than 2-feet. So keep those flames down, burn clean wood be cognizant of the wind and if there’s a lot of smoke going into your neighbor’s yard, you might be called and we may basically demand you extinguish that fire.” Make sure you have a garden hose handy to put that fire out in case of an emergency and keep such fires at least 20-feet away from combustible buildings and 30-feet away from residential structures.
