The Manitowoc Bandits captured the championship game of the 2021 Playball Tournament at Municipal Baseball Field yesterday (May 23rd).
The Bandits shut out Little Chute 7-0 in the title game behind a 3-hitter from winning pitcher Lucas Mandich, who struck out 6.
Chris Casper delivered a 2-RBI base hit, teammate Jake Jeanquart was 3-for-3. Mandich, AJ Dollinger & Robert Shimek also had RBI’s in the victory.
Earlier in the tournament, the Bandits blanked Branch 4-0 on a 4-hitter and 12-strikeout performance by Mike Ruzek.
Coach Chris Cisler said Manitowoc advanced as a Wild Card to the finals after losing game-1 to the Branch Blaze 7-to-2, but then edging Sparta Miller 2-to-1.
Manitowoc qualified as the 1-and-1 record team with the lowest runs allowed.
The Bandits’ Chris Rohr was named tourney MVP.
