Crews with Green Bay’s Public Works Department are busy filling thousands of potholes in preparation for heavy traffic this summer.
More than 8000 holes have been fixed so far. The director of the city’s operations division says it is a year-round job. Over the last two years, more than 38,000 potholes were filled in Green Bay. The other big job for the department this year has been moving unused road salt leftover from a mild winter.
The city is having to store 5500 tons of salt – but at least that will reduce next year’s salt expenses.
