Legislation has been introduced that would ban Wisconsin schools from teaching critical race theory.
Republican representatives Chuck Wichgers, Rick Gundrum and Gae Magnifici, and state Senator Andre Jacque introduced the bills Thursday.
Public schools, the University of Wisconsin System institutions, and state technical colleges would be affected.
If those schools taught the topic any way they could lose some of their state funding.
Lawmakers say at least 16 other states have signed similar bills into law – or, are considering them.
