Interceptions and passes broken up are good ways to determine the best cornerbacks, but a new measurement shows just how good Packers All-Pro corner Jaire Alexander really is.
Next Gen Stats measures what is called “tight window rate” – when a cornerback gives up less than one yard of separation as the ball arrives on targeted throws into their coverage area.
Alexander had a “tight window rate” of 42.3 percent during the 2020 season. That’s the top mark in the N-F-L among defenders covering at least 50 targets.
Pro Football Focus agreed, rating Alexander the top cornerback in the league last year. P-F-F reports he gave up only 353 receiving yards against his coverage during more than 600 defensive snaps.
