A Newton woman has been elected to represent Calumet and Manitowoc Counties on the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin Board of Directors.
Julie Maurer will now serve a three-year term on the board, along with seven other newly elected Board members.
There were 10 certified candidates running for eight board member positions in 2021.
Of the 2,029 dairy producers living in the election districts, per DATCP records, 13.3% returned ballots. District 5, which had two candidates on the ballot, recorded the most election participation with 20.0% of the eligible producers in that district voting.
The election closed on May 22, 2021.
