The city of Beloit is asking its residents to conserve water so it can help Illinois emergency responders fight the fire at a Rockton chemical plant.
Officials say the fire at the Chemtool plant will likely burn for several days.
Rockton is just four miles south of Beloit.
The fire got so big that smoke could be seen in Beloit – and even farther away in Janesville, Monroe and Delavan.
It isn’t known how the fire started, but evacuations have been conducted.
So far the only injury reported involved one firefighter.
