The Manitowoc Lincoln Ships had a great night at the plate and on the mound as they toppled Oshkosh West in the Regional Championship last night 6-1.
Offensively, Brock Peterson went 3-3 with an RBI, Bryce Erdmann went 2-3 was a pair of RBIs, and D.J. Cookle went 2-3, scored a run, and batted one in.
However, Coach Bruce Steinbecker, the real highlight of the night was their pitching. Aiden Buck started the night, pitching 6 innings, while Noah Wech came in in the final frame to secure the win.
“Two guys gave up three hits against a really good team. Aiden was really sharp, and we knew with Noah coming in that we were getting another fire-baller,” Steinbecker said. “Our pitching was amazing tonight.”
Steinbecker also said he is excited to see how far this team can advance in the playoffs.
“It’s been a little bit since we have been to the Sectional,” he explained. “We have a nice team, and our goal is one game at a time, but obviously we don’t want our season to end anytime soon.”
The next game for the Ships is a sectional game against either Neenah, who brings with them the #1 seed, or 5th seeded Menasha.
