Two class-action lawsuits have been filed against Chemtool by families who were forced to evacuate during last week’s fire just across the border from Beloit in Illinois.
One of the suits alleges Chemtool was negligent and failed to use reasonable care that would have prevented the explosion and fire.
Both class actions seek damages for loss of use and enjoyment of homes and businesses.
The suits were filed in Winnebago County, Illinois Court.
Attorney Ed Manzke says, most than anything, his clients want answers about how this happened and what the potential long-term effects are from the explosion.
