An audio recording of what was supposed to be a private meeting between the seniors on the Wisconsin men’s basketball team and their coach has gone public.
The Wisconsin State Journal says it received the 37-minute file from an anonymous email account.
During the February meeting, the seven seniors were openly critical of head coach Greg Gard. At one point forward Nate Reuvers told Gard he didn’t have a relationship with the coach, saying he doubted how much Gard cared.
One unidentified player told the paper “there was not one dry eye” in the room at the end. Gard reportedly told the players the disconnect was his fault.
He also told the State Journal it is disturbing that the “private family meeting” was recorded and released for public consumption.
Although the N-C-A-A awarded all of its athletes an extra year of eligibility, Brad Davison was the only senior who decided to return.
