An August competency hearing in Marathon County will determine if a man goes to trial for killing his girlfriend.
Umberto Lo is charged with first-degree intentional murder.
Prosecutors say he shot 30-year-old Mai Rue “Lily” Vang to death last March in the apartment they shared.
Investigators say Lo called a relative asking them to come pick up his children.
The relative thought he was joking, so Lo sent him a picture of Vang’s body.
The relative called 9-1-1 and Lo was taken into custody.
His competency hearing is set for September 28th.
