The Denmark Vikings are State Champs in Boys Baseball following a 4-1 win over Jefferson last night (June 30th).
The Vikings (31-and-1) snapped a 1-all tie with 3-runs in the bottom of the 4th to gain the advantage at Neuroscience Group Field in Grand Chute.
Starting pitcher Brennen Miller got the win with 5-innings of 5-hit, 1-run baseball to go along with 2-walks and 7-strikeouts. Reece Piontek worked a perfect inning in relief with a pair of strikeouts to earn a save.
Offensively, Abe Kapinos and Hayden Konkol both went 2-for-3 for Denmark.
Meanwhile, 1st district State Senator Andre Jacque posted on Facebook that he had the honor of adjourning the Wisconsin State Senate last night in tribute to the Denmark Vikings state baseball champs & Tuesday’s Mishicot Indians state softball champions. Jacque added, “So proud to recognize our area’s outstanding student-athletes. Congratulations!”
Today at the state baseball tournament, the Division-1 semifinals pit top-seeded Sun Prairie vs. the 5 seed Menomonee Falls at 11:05, followed by 2nd seeded Bay Port and #6 Eau Claire Memorial. The winners battle for the large school crown this evening at 6:05.
