Maybe they will slow down and smell the roses?
The city of Milwaukee, its Business Improvement District, and a community group hope concrete planters will slow down drivers.
It’s all part of Milwaukee’s effort to combat reckless driving.
Four concrete planters were placed in one area where turn lanes used to be.
Another 18 concrete planters weighing one ton each were placed at the edge of streets in the Business Improvement District.
So far, they’re working so well they could become a model for other areas of Milwaukee.
The plan is to keep the planters in place year-round, but if they affect snow removal that plan could change.
