The budget approved Thursday by the U-W Board of Regents does not include a tuition increase for undergraduate students.
The tuition freeze that had been in effect since 2013 was lifted, but the Board keeps tuition flat next school year.
The overall average cost of attending college will increase by one percent.
There was little discussion by the Regents on why they chose not to use the new authority after an eight-year tuition freeze.
