Today is National Macaroni and Cheese Day in the United States. Shanisty Ireland, a Food and Lifestyle Influencer, talked about that this morning with Craig Dillon on the WCUB Breakfast Club.
Ireland explained it’s a “fan favorite in every household, “Especially mine, I have 4 kids and it’s a go-to. I don’t know any child that when they see that box of mac n’ cheese come out of the cabinet or pantry. They light up, yes, dinner is served, and are super excited. Everybody loves macaroni and cheese.”
Ireland also had some fun facts about mac-n’-cheese.
“So the world record for the fastest time to eat a box of macaroni and cheese is 1 minute and 2 seconds. Somebody gobbled that up in a full minute, how, I don’t know. Those world records always blow my mind. About 110 million Americans will eat macaroni and cheese at least once every 90 days.”
Cheese can be produced from a variety of different milks including cow, buffalo, goat and even camel milk. The U.S is the #1 producer of cheese with Wisconsin the #1 state for its’ production. And, the average American consumes about 40-pounds of cheese a year.
