This Sunday’s Eric Van Iten Memorial Race is set to be the largest race in the history of the one-third mile, clay oval in Luxemburg, Wisconsin.
According to information from racing event promoter and writer, Joe Verdegan, the race is being held in memory of Eric Van Iten who passed away early this year from cancer.
His longtime friend, Troy “Snoot” DeGrave, began to seek sponsors and donations along with additional prize money for the race.
Thanks to more than 40-different sponsors and countless donations that figure has ballooned to over $41,000 “and is still growing” in the week leading up to the event.
The race is scheduled for the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds in Luxemburg Sunday with Pit gates opening at 1:00 PM, the grandstand at 3:00 and racing to begin at 5:00.
The night will be highlighted by a $6,000 top prize in both the IMCA Modified & IMCA Stock Car divisions.
There will be silent auctions, raffles and a 50/50 raffle to benefit one of Eric’s favorite charities, Wings Over Wisconsin-Denmark Chapter.
