Farmers who were adversely affected by the recent heavy rains may be eligible for assistance from the Farm Service Agency (FSA).
There are four programs producers could be eligible for including the Non-Insured Crop Disaster Assistance Program, which provides financial assistance to producers of non-insurable crops when low yields, loss of inventory, or prevented planting occur.
The Livestock Indemnity Program offers payments to eligible producers for livestock death losses in excess of normal mortality due to adverse weather, while the Tree Assistance Program provides assistance to eligible orchardists and nursery tree growers for qualifying tree, shrub, and vine losses due to natural disaster.
Lastly, the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees, and Farm-Raised Fish Program provides emergency relief for losses such as honeybee colony and hive losses and pasture where animals were forced off due to floodwaters.
For more information on these programs, visit Farmers.gov/recover or call your local FSA Office.
