Manitowoc American Legion Post 88 opened Regional Tournament action last night (July 21st) with A 13-0 romp over Fond du Lac.
The ballgame at Wildwood Park in Sheboygan was scoreless for the first two innings before Post 88 scored 2 runs in the 3rd and added 4 in the 5th, 2 in the 6th, and tallied 5-runs in the 7th.
Manitowoc’s offense pounded out 13-runs on 13-hits, with 7 of those going for extra bases in support of winning pitcher Jacob Gallagher.
Jacob worked the first 6-and-2-third innings, giving up 3-hits to go along with 4-strikeouts and 3-walks.
He left the game due to the pitch count & Brandon Stephany came on in relief to fan the only batter he faced.
Offensively, Hilbert’s Ridge Guyette led the way going 4-for-5 with 3-doubles, a triple, 4-RBI, and 2-runs scored.
Carter Stebane added 3-hits, 3-stolen bases, scored 4-runs while adding a double, triple, and 2-RBI.
Adam Diedrich and Jackson Schmitz both added a pair of hits in the victory.
Coach Stan Diedrich’s team now faces Sheboygan Post 83 this afternoon at 5:00 in the next round of the double-elimination tourney.
Sheboygan has handed Manitowoc 2 of its’ 4-losses this season.
