The Lincoln Park Zoo is hosting Zoo Education Camps for children ages 4-to-10 this summer.
Curt Hall, Manitowoc Park and Recreation Division Manager, said the camps run from 1-to-3 pm and do require registration.
“Some of the titles, for example, are animal diets, farm life, river life to give people a behind-the-scenes look at how a zoo operates.”
Hall explained there’s instruction on multiple aspects of a zookeepers’ job.
“We get kids out in the field and kinda give them hands-on experience such as taking river samples with their boots on and also teaching them about farm animals in the Big Red Barn and how they’re cared for.”
The Park and Recreation division manager says the zoo programs have been going well. For more information about signing up, you can contact the Recreation Office located at 3300 Custer Street, by calling 686-3060.
