The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction calls a racial harassment investigation in Cedarburg Public Schools “deficient.”
Parent Jessie Machomvu had complained last year saying her bi-racial son was being harassed.
When the district said its independent investigator didn’t find any evidence of harassment, she took her appeal to the D-P-I.
A report from the state agency says the Cedarburg district didn’t comply with its own policies or procedures while handling the complaint.
It should have been forwarded to the district compliance officer, but a vice-principal conducted an informal investigation instead – depriving the mother and her son of access to their procedural rights.
