Adrian Houser tossed five scoreless innings in Milwaukee’s 7-3 win over Pittsburgh Wednesday night.
Right fielder Avisail Garcia went three-for-five and Lorenzo Cain and Luis Urias drove in two runs apiece.
Milwaukee had a seven-run lead before the Pirates scored for the first time in the series in the bottom of the seventh.
Rookie second baseman Rodolfo Castro – taking over for the traded Adam Frazier – hit a pair of home runs and drove in all the Pirate runs.
The Brewers go for the series sweep and a three-game winning streak behind Freddy Peralta tonight (July 29th). First pitch on 107.9 FM WOMT is scheduled for 6:05 PM.
Meanwhile, the Crew added a little punch to their lineup by trading for All-Star infielder Eduardo Escobar Wednesday.
Milwaukee sent a pair of minor leaguers to the Diamondbacks in the trade – outfielder Cooper Hummel and infielder Alberto Ciprian.
The 32-year-old Escobar has played mostly third base, but also lined up at second during his career.
He’s hitting .246 with 22 home runs and 65 runs batted in this season.
Escobar has put up a wins-above-replacement of two-point-one.
Milwaukee has been carried by its pitching this year and could use a power bat in the lineup.
