Joan C. Heinzen, age 88, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Tender Reflections Assisted Living in Manitowoc.
Joan was born on October 18, 1932 in Two Rivers. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Mildred VanKylen Brice Sr. Joan attended Washington High School in Two Rivers and graduated with the class of 1950. She later continued her education at Silver Lake College in Manitowoc and graduated in 1980 with her Bachelors of Business Administration Degree. Joan was employed at Paragon Electric where she met Robert A. Heinzen who she married on May 9, 1959 in Two Rivers. Joan worked at Paragon Electric for 10 years as the head of the accounting department. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Joan enjoyed gardening, golfing and most sports, especially tennis. She enjoyed traveling with her husband in Europe, Africa, Mexico, Russia, and throughout the United States. Joan was very active as a volunteer at her church and community.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert, three sons, Jeffrey (Tina) Heinzen, Manitowoc, David (Lisa) Heinzen, Janesville, Dr. James Heinzen and Heather, Reeseville; 17 grandchildren, one great grandchild, nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mildred Brice Sr., one son, Steven Heinzen, five brothers and two sisters, one in infancy.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Ben Johnson. Relatives and friends may call at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Following the funeral services a luncheon will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Cremation will take place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with burial of the cremated remains at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc at a later date.
