Manitowoc remains alive in the Wisconsin American Legion Baseball Tournament by coming from behind to defeat Racine 9-5 yesterday (July 28th).
Legion Post (now 1-and-1 in the double-elimination tourney in Plover) had trailed 5-1 entering the 6th inning when they sent 11-batters to the plate and scored 5-runs to grab the lead for good.
Manitowoc then added 3-insurance runs in the top of the 7th to complete the 9-5 win. Zach Marten earned the win in relief of starter Ashton Portmann, who worked the first 4-innings.
Offensively, leading the way for Coach Stan Diedrich’s ballclub was Brillion’s Carter Stebane, who was 2-for-3 including a double, triple, sacrifice fly, a walk, and 5-RBI. Zach Marten went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and 2-runs scored.
And, Hunter Chalupny reached base four times with a base hit, 2-walks, hit by a pitch, and scored a run.
