The Manitowoc County Health Department is reporting a “high spread” of COVID-19 countywide.
According to the State Department of Health Services the County has reported 107.2 cases per 100,000 people in the last two weeks listing it in a state of high community spread.
County Health Officer Stephanie Lambert says a “full summer of transmission is partly responsible along with the quick spread of the Delta Variant infecting and hospitalizing thousands nationwide.”
Lambert adds that the Health Department supports CDC guidance recommending that all individuals in areas of high transmission vaccinated or not- wear masks in public indoor settings. The County Health Officer implores everyone to get ‘fully vaccinated” which is the best way to protect yourself, family, and your community. Other recommendations are staying six feet apart from those not in your household while in public, staying home when sick, cleaning and sanitizing “high touch” areas and washing your hands often.
