Raymond Krcma, 102, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away surrounded by love on Friday, August 6th, just 9 days before his 103rd birthday, at River Woods Place Assisted Living of Manitowoc where he resided since November, 2019.
Raymond was born August 15, 1918 on the family farm in the town of Gibson and resided there until he retired in 1987 when he and his wife, Lorraine moved to Two Rivers, WI. He was the son of the late Wencil and Delia (Stangel) Krcma.
Raymond graduated from Zander School, and married Lorraine C. Martin on June 16, 1952. She preceded him in death on August 19, 2000. Raymond was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Church, Two Rivers and St. Isidore the Farmer (previously St. Mary) Catholic Church in Tisch Mills, WI. He was also a member of the Tisch Mills-Mishicot Knights of Columbus.
Raymond loved his faith, his family, and the land. He had a wonderful life but it was not without difficult times including the death of his daughter, Marilyn Bean in December, 1994 and his wife in August, 2000. His faith and family gave him strength. He was born in 1918 at the beginning of the Spanish Flu pandemic and survived Coronavirus in November, 2020.
Raymond was a proud dairy farmer who loved his land and livestock. He lived a full life and was rarely ill. When he and Lorraine moved to Two Rivers, they joined the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA Forever Young group. This group provided wonderful opportunities for Raymond and Lorraine to enjoy exercise, as well as numerous trips and activities. Raymond continued to enjoy the YMCA almost every day until his 100th birthday.
Raymond was a volunteer at the Farm Museum in Two Rivers – a perfect place for a retired farmer. Many of his tools have been donated to the museum. He loved to work in his garden and he loved to play Sheepshead with his siblings and at the Two Rivers Senior Center. He enjoyed traveling, attending concerts and listening to polka music with family and friends.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law: Lauretta Krcma-Olson and Carl Olson, Two Rivers, WI; Betty Krcma, Green Bay, WI; two granddaughters: Rhonda (Bean) and Roger Burgess, and Courtney (Bean) and Joe Gates; and two great-grandchildren: Paige and Clayton Burgess, all of Kalamazoo, MI. He is further survived by four sisters and one brother-in-law: Agnes Scharenbroch, and Eleanor Nelson, Manitowoc, WI, Beatrice Cisler, Mishicot, WI, and Jeanette (Karl) Kudick, Sarasota, Florida; one brother and sister-in-law: Jim (Eileen) Krcma, Manitowoc, WI; one sister-in-law, Virginia Martin, Oconto Falls, WI; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents: Wencil and Delia Krcma; beloved wife: Lorraine and daughter, Marilyn Krcma Bean; his siblings: Edward (Tracy) Krema, John (Marie) Krema, Alton (Louise) Krema, Lucy (Tom) Hagstrom, Marie Krcma, Leonard (Dolores) Krema; and brother-in-laws: Al Scharenbroch, Emil Nelson, Gerhardt Cisler, and Karl Martin; and sister-in-laws: Ruth (Daniel) Brusky and Rita (Eugene) Krcma.
